Our Mavens

Despite what the culture around us insists, the experience of pregnancy and childbirth can be stressful and at times, traumatic for many women. I believe that yoga is an invaluable tool in helping new mums to heal, and to reconnect to their body, which in turn allows them to connect more fully with their new baby.

Meditation | Yoga Therapy

Clare Pritchard is a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with a particular interest in working with survivors of trauma, a therapeutic approach which is increasingly recognised as being immensely beneficial for recovery and healing. She bases her trauma informed practice on the invaluable work of David Emerson and Bessel Van der Kulk at the Trauma Center in Massachusetts. Clare holds both Certificate 1 & 2 in the Radiant Child Yoga Program. She has also completed a course in Yoga Therapy for Children and the Zenergy Kids Yoga Foundation Course Certificate. Clare has been teaching for over 10 years and has travelled to India a number of times to deepen her understanding of the practice.

Clare worked for many years in the Community Sector so approaches her yoga teaching and practice with a far greater depth than merely ‘running a business’. Her passion for introducing yoga to survivors of trauma has led Clare to work with clients of the Western Centre Against Sexual Assault, the Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault, the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault, Counterpoint Young Women’s Refuge, and the GirlStorey program (run by the YWCA). She has also taught in a voluntary capacity  at the Maribyrnong Immigration Detention Centre and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
